Google has teamed up with iriver to launch the first e-reader to be integrated with the Google e-books platform. The iriver Story HD will go on sale at Target on Sunday July 17 priced $139.99, the same as the Kindle.
It will have wi-fi and a six-inch e-Ink screen with a QWERTY keyboard, and access to more than 3 million books for free and hundreds of thousands for sale. Google's ebook platform will be open to all publishers, and, because information will be stored centrally (in the "cloud") readers will be able to read on any device, picking up exactly where they left off on the previous device.
